Jio Speed Test
This page helps JioFiber and JioAirFiber users perform an accurate internet speed test. Since Jio primarily uses Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) technology, you should expect high speeds and low latency if your equipment is set up correctly.
Understanding your results can help you determine if you are getting the 30 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 300 Mbps, or 1 Gbps speeds promised in your plan.
How to interpret your JioFiber result
JioFiber plans offer "Symmetrical Speeds" for most tiers, meaning your upload should match your download.
Download Speed: For a 100 Mbps plan, you should see 90-100 Mbps on a 5 GHz Wi-Fi or LAN connection.
Upload Speed: Crucial for Work-From-Home (Zoom/Teams) and gaming. It should be close to your download speed.
Ping (Latency): On JioFiber, ping to local servers is typically 5ms - 20ms. On JioAirFiber (5G FWA), ping may be slightly higher (25ms - 50ms).
JioFiber Expected Performance
Connection characteristics
Technology: GPON / XGS-PON Fiber.
FUP Limit: Most "Unlimited" plans have a 3,300 GB (3.3 TB) monthly limit.
Wi-Fi Bands: Jio routers emit two signals: 2.4 GHz (Long Range, Slow) and 5 GHz (Short Range, Fast).
Typical real-world performance
Wired (Ethernet): Consistently 95%+ of plan speed.
Wi-Fi (5 GHz): 300-500 Mbps near the router.
Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz): Often caps at 40-70 Mbps due to interference.
Common Causes of Slow Jio Internet
If your test results are poor, check these common issues:
Wrong Wi-Fi Band: Ensure you are connected to the SSID ending in _5G. The standard band is often too slow for high-speed plans.
Blinking Red Light: This indicates a physical break in the fiber line or loose connector. No internet will work.
Daily/Monthly Quota: Check the MyJio app to see if you have exhausted your high-speed data quota.
Jio Router Login – Default IP, Username & Password
Access your JioHome Gateway admin panel to change your Wi-Fi password, hide your Wi-Fi name, or manage connected devices.
| Jio Router Login Details | Information |
| Jio Router Login IP Address | 192.168.29.1 |
| Default Username | admin |
| Default Password | Jiocentrum |
Steps to Login
- Connect to your JioFiber Wi-Fi
- Open a browser (Chrome/Edge)
- Type 192.168.29.1 in the address bar
- Enter username: admin
- Enter password: Jiocentrum (or your custom password)
Troubleshooting Gateway Lights
Solid Green: Online and functioning normally.
Blinking Red: Reduced signal or Fiber Cut (LOS). Check the yellow fiber patch cord.
Solid Red: Booting up or Critical Error.
Blinking Green: Firmware upgrade in progress. Do not switch off.
Wired vs Wi-Fi Testing on Jio
To verify if Jio is delivering the promised speed:
Connect a laptop directly to the JioRouter using a LAN Cable (Cat6). If this wired test shows full speed (e.g., 290 Mbps on a 300 Mbps plan), your internet line is fine, and the slowness is due to Wi-Fi range or interference.
When to contact JioCare
Reach out to Jio support via MyJio App or 1800-889-9999 if:
Your router displays a Blinking Red light for more than 15 minutes.
Your wired speed test is consistently less than 60% of your plan speed.
You accidentally damaged the fiber patch cord.
Jio Speed Test FAQs
What does a blinking red light on my JioFiber router mean? A blinking red light usually indicates 'Loss of Signal' (LOS) or a fiber cut. It means the router is not receiving a signal from the Jio exchange. Check your patch cord or call support.
Why is my JioFiber Wi-Fi speed so slow? Slow Wi-Fi is often caused by connecting to the 2.4 GHz band. The 2.4 GHz band has better range but lower speed. Always connect to the 5 GHz band for speeds above 50 Mbps.
How do I log into my JioFiber Router? Open a browser and type 192.168.29.1. The default username is 'admin' and the default password is 'Jiocentrum'.
Does JioFiber have a data limit (FUP)? Yes, "Unlimited" plans usually have a Fair Usage Policy of 3.3 TB (3300 GB) per month. Speeds drop to 1 Mbps afterward.
