WOW! Speed Test
This page provides a reliable internet speed test for WOW! (WideOpenWest) customers. Whether you are on the Internet 500 cable plan or using their new Fiber 1 Gig service with Eero mesh Wi-Fi, verify your connection performance here.
WOW! operates a Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) network in most areas but is rapidly expanding pure Fiber capabilities. Your experience heavily depends on whether you have a DOCSIS 3.1 modem or a direct Fiber connection.
Interpreting Your WOW! Results
Download Speed:
- Cable Plans (100 - 1.2 Gig): Real-world speeds via Ethernet should be ~90-95% of the
advertised rate. 1.2 Gig plans require a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port to see full speeds.
- Fiber Plans: You should consistently see 940+ Mbps on a Gigabit wired connection.
Upload Speed:
- Asymmetric (Cable): Expect significantly lower uploads (e.g., 50 Mbps on a 1 Gig plan).
This is normal for WOW! coax networks.
- Symmetric (Fiber): Fiber plans offer equal upload/download speeds, ideal for streamers
and
creators.
Ping (Latency):
- Cable: ~20-30ms.
- Fiber:
< 10ms.
WOW! Router Login & Eero Setup
WOW! typically issues Arris Touchstone gateways for cable customers or Eero mesh systems for whole-home Wi-Fi.
| Device Type | Management Method |
| Arris Modem (TG2472 / TG3452) |
URL: 192.168.0.1 User: adminPass: password (case-sensitive)
|
| Eero Mesh Wi-Fi | App Only: Download the Eero App (iOS/Android) to manage passwords, guest networks, and device blocking. No web interface is available. |
Common Troubleshooting
Blinking US/DS Light (Arris): The modem is scanning for WOW!'s signal frequencies. Check that your coaxial cable is screwed in tight and not damaged.
Eero Red LED: Your Eero has lost internet connection. Check if the modem connected to it is online (Solid lights). Reboot the modem first, then the Eero.
Wired vs Wi-Fi Testing
To verify if you are getting the 1 Gig speed you pay for, you must test with a Cat6 Ethernet cable connected directly to the modem or the main Eero unit. Wi-Fi speeds will typically max out around 400-700 Mbps on most devices.
When to contact WOW! Support (1-866-496-9669)
Call WOW! customer service if:
Your modem's "Online" light never turns solid green.
You cannot pair your Eero devices despite following the app instructions.
You are getting consistently low speeds (<50% of plan) on a wired connection.
WOW! Speed Test FAQs
Why is my WOW! internet slow? Common causes include Wi-Fi congestion (try testing closer to your router), using an outdated DOCSIS 3.0 modem on a Gigabit plan, or signal issues indicated by blinking lights on your modem.
How do I login to my WOW! modem? For Arris gateways, try 192.168.0.1
with username admin and password password. If you have an Eero system, you
must use the Eero mobile app.
Does WOW! offer symmetrical speeds? Yes, but only on their **Fiber** plans (e.g., Fiber 500, Fiber 1 Gig). Their traditional cable internet plans are asymmetric, offering much faster downloads than uploads.
What is the WOW! customer service number? You can reach WOW! support 24/7 at **1-866-496-9669**.
