Telenor Speed Test

This page helps Telenor Norway customers test their internet speed. Whether you have ultra-stable Fiberbredbånd or the flexible Trådløst Bredbånd (5G Home Internet), knowing your real-world performance is key to troubleshooting lag and buffering.

Telenor is Norway's largest telecom provider, delivering high-speed internet across the country using a mix of state-of-the-art Fiber optics and a robust 5G mobile network.

Interpreting Your Telenor Results

Download Speed:
- Fiber (Fiberbredbånd): You should receive close to 100% of your plan speed (e.g., 500 Mbps) on a wired connection. Wi-Fi results will vary.
- 5G (Trådløst Bredbånd): Speeds fluctuate based on weather and tower congestion. 100-300 Mbps is typical for most 5G home setups.

Upload Speed:
- Fiber: Telenor Fiber plans are usually symmetric (Equal download/upload). If you pay for 500 Mbps down, you get 500 Mbps up.
- 5G/DSL: Upload speeds are significantly lower than download speeds (Asymmetric).

Ping (Latency):
- Fiber: 2-10ms (Excellent).
- 5G: 20-40ms (Good).
- DSL: 30-60ms (Fair).

Telenor Router Login (WiFi Ruter)

Your Telenor WiFi Ruter manages your home network. Log in to change your SSID (Network Name) or Wi-Fi password.

Common Troubleshooting (Feilsøking)

Blinking Red Light (Internet/World Icon): This means the router has power but no connection to the Telenor network.
- Fiber: Check if the thin fiber patch cable is securely clicked into the media converter.
- 5G: Your antenna may have lost line-of-sight to the tower, or there is a local outage.

Slow Wi-Fi on 5G Router: Place the "WiFi Ruter" near a window facing the nearest base station for the best 5G signal reception.

Wired vs Wireless Testing

Telenor (and all ISPs) guarantees speeds to the router, not over Wi-Fi. To test if your line is working correctly, connect a PC directly to the yellow LAN port on your Telenor router using a Cat6 cable. Wireless tests are useful for checking Wi-Fi coverage but not the line speed itself.

When to contact Telenor Kundeservice (915 09000)

Contact support if:

The Internet light flashes red for more than 30 minutes.

Your wired speed test is consistently below 50% of your subscribed plan.

You need to activate "Bridge Mode" on your modem.

Telenor Competitors

Other major Norwegian ISPs include:

  • Telia: The main competitor offering similar Fiber and 5G/4G home broadband.
  • Altibox: A major fiber partner usually providing services through local power companies.

Telenor Speed Test FAQs

Why is my Telenor Fiber speed slow on Wi-Fi? Wi-Fi speeds are typically the bottleneck. Even with a 1000 Mbps fiber line, many mobile devices and laptops cap out at ~500 Mbps on Wi-Fi 5. Use the 5 GHz band and move closer to the router, or test with a cable.

What does a blinking red light mean on my Telenor router? A blinking red light typically indicates a loss of signal from the external network (Fiber cut or 5G tower issue). Try restarting the router by unplugging power for 30 seconds.

How do I login to Telenor WiFi Ruter? Open a browser and type http://192.168.1.1 (or 10.0.0.138 for older models). Use the unique password printed on the router's sticker.

Is 'Trådløst Bredbånd' (5G) as fast as Fiber? Generally, no. While 5G speeds can be fast, Fiber is superior for stability, latency (ping), and consistent upload speeds, which are crucial for gaming and video calls.
