Swisscom Speed Test
This tool performs a precision speed test for Swisscom customers across Switzerland. Whether you are connected via the ultra-modern XGS-PON Fiber network (up to 10 Gbit/s) or the copper-based G.fast network, knowing your real-world speed is essential for troubleshooting.
Swisscom is the market leader in Swiss telecommunications, famous for its high-quality "blue Internet" subscriptions and advanced proprietary hardware like the Internet-Box 4.
Interpreting Your Swisscom Results
Download Speed:
- 10 Gbit/s Plans: Validating this requires a 10GbE network card. Expect ~2000-8000 Mbps
depending on PC hardware.
- 1 Gbit/s Plans: Wired results should correspond to 900-940 Mbps.
- Copper (DSL/G.fast): Highly dependent on line length. Can range from 50 Mbps to 500 Mbps.
Upload Speed: Swisscom Fiber plans are symmetrical. You should see upload speeds matching your download speeds. On Copper/DSL technologies, upload is typically 20-30% of download.
Ping (Latency):
- Fiber: 2-5ms to Zurich servers (Class-leading).
- G.fast: 8-15ms.
Internet-Box Router Login (Internet-Box 3 / 4)
Accessing your router is necessary to change WLAN passwords, set up Guest Wi-Fi, or check fiber signal strength.
| Device | Login Credentials |
| Internet-Box 4 / 3 (Latest XGS-PON Gateways) |
URL: http://internetbox.home or 192.168.1.1 Password: You set this on first use. If lost, press the 'Reset' button on the back for 10 seconds. |

Understanding Internet-Box LEDs
Blinking White: The router is booting up or connecting to the remote management server. Please wait.
Blinking Red: No internet signal. Check if the fiber optic cable is firmly inserted into the OTO socket (usually OTO Port 1 or 2).
Solid White (Dimmed): Internet is online and working normally.
Testing 10 Gbit/s Connections
Swisscom's "blue Internet L" and "XL" offer speeds up to 10 Gbit/s. A standard speed test on a phone or laptop will never show this speed. Wi-Fi 6 usually caps around 800-1200 Mbps.
To see speeds above 1 Gbit/s, you absolutely need:
- An Internet-Box 3 or 4 (which has a 10Gb Ethernet port).
- A CAT6a Ethernet cable (CAT5e handles only 1 Gbit/s).
- A PC with a 10GbE Network Card (NIC).
When to Contact Swisscom Support (0800 800 800)
Contact the hotline if:
The router LED flashes red for more than 15 minutes.
You need to activate a new fiber OTO socket in a new apartment.
Your speed is consistently below the "minimum guaranteed speed" (check your contract in My Swisscom).
Swisscom Speed Test FAQs
How do I test 10 Gbit/s (10 Gig) Swisscom Fiber? To verify the full 10 Gbit/s speed of the 'blue Internet L/XL' plans, you cannot use a standard laptop or smartphone. You must have a PC with a dedicated 10 Gbit Ethernet card (RJ45 or SFP+) connected directly to the 10Gb port on your Internet-Box 3 or 4 using a CAT6a cable.
How do I login to my Swisscom Internet-Box? Ensure you are connected to your home network,
then enter http://internetbox.home or http://192.168.1.1 in your browser. The
default 'admin' password is required for the first login; if you have set a custom password and forgotten it,
you must reset the router using the physical reset button.
Why is my speed slow in my 'Bunker' (Cellar)? Swiss homes often have thick reinforced concrete walls which block WLAN signals. For better coverage, we recommend the Swisscom 'WLAN-Box 2' or 'WLAN-Box 3' connected via Ethernet backhaul to the main router.
What is the difference between Fiber and G.fast? Fiber (FTTH) comes directly into your apartment via an OTO socket and offers symmetric speeds up to 10 Gbit/s. G.fast uses existing copper telephone lines for the last few meters, offering fast downloads (up to 500 Mbps) but slower uploads.
