Orange Speed Test
This page helps Orange France subscribers to rigorously test their Livebox Fibre connection. Ensure you are receiving the full 2 Gbit/s or 8 Gbit/s bandwidth promised by your Livebox Max or Livebox Up plan.
Orange is the historic and largest ISP in France, known for its high-quality fiber network (FTTH). While ADSL is still used in rural areas, most urban centers now benefit from the high-speed Livebox 6 (Wi-Fi 6E) and Livebox 7 (Wi-Fi 7) routers.
Interpreting Your Livebox Speed Results
Your speed test results will depend heavily on your equipment and plan:
Download Speed: On a standard fiber plan, expect ~500 Mbps. On Max Fibre, expect up to 2000 Mbps (2 Gbps) if using the 2.5G Ethernet port. Wi-Fi 6 devices will typically see 600-900 Mbps.
Upload Speed: Orange fiber plans are asymmetric but high. Typically 600-800 Mbps upload, which is excellent for sending large files or cloud backups.
Ping (Latency): Orange's fiber network is known for low latency, typically 3-8ms to Paris servers. Perfect for competitive gaming.
Pro Tip: Do not test via the Livebox's USB port or old Cat5 cables. Use a Cat6a or Cat7 cable for speeds above 1 Gbps.
Livebox 6 & 7: Equipment & Performance
Network Infrastructure
Technology: GPON and XGS-PON (for Livebox Max).
Modems: Livebox 5 (Recycled Plastic), Livebox 6 (Vertical design, E-Ink screen), Livebox 7.
Wi-Fi Bands: Livebox 6/7 support the 6GHz band (Wi-Fi 6E/7), which offers uncongested, super-fast wireless speeds in apartments.
Getting the Full 2 Gbps
Use the Multi-Gig Port: The Livebox 6/7 has one specific LAN port marked with a "2.5G" or grey line. Connect your gaming PC or high-end laptop here.
App "Ma Livebox": Use the official Orange app to diagnose Wi-Fi coverage and optimize channel selection.

The Livebox screen displays a "Reseau" error.
The light stays solid Orange for more than 15 minutes after a reboot.
You have physically damaged the delicate fiber optical cable.
FAQs
Why is my Wi-Fi slow on Livebox? You may be connected to the 2.4GHz band. Log in to the Livebox and separate the SSIDs (give the 5GHz/6GHz network a different name) to force your devices onto the fast lane.
Can I use my own router with Orange? It is difficult to fully replace the Livebox due to TV/Phone authentication. Most users set the Livebox up, turn off its Wi-Fi, and connect a Mesh system (like Orbi or Eero) to it in Access Point mode.
