Interpreting Your KPN Results

Download Speed:
- Glasvezel (Fiber): Should be very close to your plan speed (e.g., 940 Mbps for a 1 Gbps plan). The new 4 Gbps plan requires 10G Ethernet gear to see full speeds.
- DSL (Koper): Highly dependent on distance from the exchange. Expect 20-100 Mbps.

Upload Speed:
- Symmetric (Fiber): KPN Glasvezel offers equal upload and download speeds (e.g., 1 Gbps up/1 Gbps down).
- DSL: Upload is much slower, typically 5-30 Mbps.

Ping (Latency):
- Fiber: Extremely low, typically 3-8ms.

KPN standardizes its modem IPs. Access your Sagemcom (Box 12) or Arcadyan (Box 12b/14) interface to check Wi-Fi settings or restart the device.

Common Troubleshooting

"Internet" Light Flashing (Green): The modem is trying to establish a connection. If this lasts >10 minutes on Fiber, check the patch cable between your Glass termination point (FTU) and the modem's red "WAN" port.

Red "Power" Light: Critical hardware failure or failed boot. Try a factory reset. If it persists, call KPN for a replacement.

Wired vs Wi-Fi Testing

Tests over Wi-Fi are reliable for general health but cannot verify 1 Gbps or 4 Gbps fiber speeds. You must use a Cat6 or Cat6a Ethernet cable connected directly to the yellow LAN port of your KPN Box.

You have a solid red light on the modem.

Your speed test result is significantly below your plan speed on a wired connection.

You need help activating a new FRITZ!Box modem.

KPN Speed Test FAQs

Why is the Internet light flashing green on my KPN Box 12? This indicates the modem is negotiating a connection with the KPN network. If it flashes rapidly, it is obtaining an IP. If it flashes slowly for a long time, check your cables.

What is the KPN Box 12 login IP? The unique default IP for almost all KPN modems is 192.168.2.254. This differs from the standard 192.168.1.1 used by other brands.

Can I use my own FRITZ!Box with KPN? Yes, KPN fully supports "Vrije Modemkeuze". You can connect a compatible FRITZ!Box directly to the fiber line (NTU) and select the "KPN" profile in the setup wizard for instant configuration.

How fast is KPN Glasvezel? KPN offers plans starting from 100 Mbps up to 1 Gbps (SuperFiber 1) and even 4 Gbps (SuperFiber 4) in XGS-PON enabled areas. These plans are always symmetrical (same upload as download).
