China Mobile Speed Test (中国移动测速)
This page allows subscribers of China Mobile (CMCC) to verify their broadband connection speed. Test your Fiber (FTTH) performance to ensure you are getting the bandwidth you pay for.
China Mobile is the largest ISP in the world, providing high-speed Fiber via GPON technology. Plans typically range from 300 Mbps to 1000 Mbps (Gigabit).
Interpreting Test Results
A China Mobile speed test measures three key metrics:
Download Speed: The rate at which data is pulled from the internet. On a Gigabit plan, unexpected results below 900 Mbps are often due to Wi-Fi limitations.
Upload Speed: Essential for video calls and cloud backups. CMCC usually offers upload speeds around 30-50 Mbps on standard residential plans.
Latency (Ping): Time delay. To local CMCC servers, ping should be <10ms. International ping (e.g., to US websites) will naturally be higher (150-250ms).
For the most accurate result, connect your computer directly to the China Mobile gateway (LAN port 1) using a Cat6 Ethernet cable.
China Mobile: Expected Performance
Connection Characteristics
Technology: FTTH (Fiber to the Home) using PON standards.
Gateways: Huawei (HG8546, HS8145) and ZTE (F663, F673) Smart Gateways.
Stability: Generally high, but international bandwidth can be throttled during peak hours.
Typical Real-World Speeds
Download: 90-100% of plan speed (Wired).
Wi-Fi: 2.4 GHz maxes out around 50 Mbps. 5 GHz is required for speeds above 100 Mbps.
Ping: 3–15ms (Domestic).
If your speed is capped exactly at 100 Mbps, verify that your Ethernet cable is Cat5e/Cat6 and your router ports are Gigabit (1000M).
Common Issues
Slow International Sites: This is often due to the "Great Firewall" and international peering congestion, not your local line speed.
Wi-Fi Congestion: High-density housing leads to 2.4 GHz interference. Switch to the 5 GHz band.
Hardware Limitation: Older routers or phones may not support Gigabit speeds.
China Mobile Router Login (CMCC Gateway)
Access your modem settings to change Wi-Fi passwords or manage devices.
| CMCC Router Details | Information |
| Gateway IP Address | 192.168.1.1 |
| Standard User | user / (Check sticker on device) |
| Standard Password | (Check sticker on device) |
| Super Admin (Advanced) | User: CMCCAdmin Pass: aDm8H%MdA (May vary by region) |
How to Login
- Connect to the CMCC network.
- Open 192.168.1.1 in your browser.
- Enter the credentials from the sticker on the bottom of the unit.
- If you need bridge mode or advanced settings, try the Super Admin credentials.
Modem Lights Guide
Power (Green): Device is on.
PON (Green Solid): Fiber connection established.
LOS (Red Blinking): Loss of Signal. Fiber cable is broken or disconnected. Call 10086.
LAN 1-4: Device connected via cable.
Wired vs. Wi-Fi Testing
Speed tests over Wi-Fi are unreliable for diagnosing line issues. Always use a wired connection to certify if China Mobile is delivering the promised speed.
When to Contact Support (10086)
Call China Mobile support at 10086 if:
The LOS light is blinking red.
You have no internet access despite a green PON light.
Your wired speed is consistently below 50% of your plan.
FAQs
What is the red LOS light? It stands for Loss Of Signal. It means no light is reaching your modem from the fiber network. Check if the thin yellow/white cable is loose.
Why is my upload speed low? Residential plans are asymmetric. Gigabit download plans often only come with 30-50 Mbps upload.
How do I enable Bridge Mode? You typically need the Super Admin password (`CMCCAdmin`) to change the WAN connection type to Bridge mode. Proceed with caution.
